Aani and I went to high school together and hadn't really hung out at all since A Capella choir senior year, but last year her and her husband moved to Singapore. So we've gotten together a couple times in the last year and it's been awesome. In May we met them for a weekend in Phuket, Thailand. It was a cheap and easy place for both of us to get to, and we got a hotel on the beach. Definitely plus!

After a hectic start to the school year, Brandon decided that he wanted to surprise me with a weekend away. As you may know, he never does any of the travel planning. I propose an idea of where to do or what to do, and he says okay and tells me to book it. If I give him options between different hotels or things to do, he says to do whatever I want. For a control freak like me, this works out perfectly. So at the end of September, Brandon said, "Can I plan a weekend away for us this weekend?" We had nothing on, so I said "Sure." I'll admit, I was nervous. Brandon had never booked anything for us before, so I was worried that he wouldn't get as good of a deal that he could have. He wouldn't know which coupons to use where, and how to maximize our reward points. But I tried to calm myself and just be glad that Brandon wanted to do this for me.
Well I’m definitely failing on keeping up to date on this. It’s already the end of August and I haven’t written about June. So here’s the June post. Hopefully July will come soon too! For most of the month of June, we were in Hong Kong and working. Work was hectic, and I crammed an entire grad school class into the first three weeks of it. But now I’m over half way done with my masters, so yay! The first weekend in June, I went to Phuket, Thailand with 16 other female teachers from school. It was an awesome weekend. We stayed at a fancy resort right on the beach. We literally just laid in the sun, ate, drank, and got massages. It was such a good weekend. I didn’t realize that it would be so worth it to go away just for the weekend. But when I think about it, (besides cost), it’s pretty much the same thing as driving from Fargo to the cities for the weekend. We flew out on Friday night and came back Sunday night. It was an awesome weekend!
This cruise was an absolutely amazing vacation. I’d been on a cruise, but Brandon never had before. He told me after about 3 hours on the ship that he wanted most of our future vacations to be cruises. He still thinks the same way and is already planning another one for March. The four days was a great mix of sight-seeing and relaxing.
