We are almost done. Classes finished on Friday, so now it's just finals and some end-of-the-year wrapping up. I can't believe it. On Thursday night, we had an end-of-the-year gathering for employees, which included a farewell to us (and another employee who's been here for 36 years! Wow!). Some of our kids made slideshows as a good-bye for us, so that was nice. I'll hopefully get copies of them, so I can post them on here. We also got traditional Filipino wear that people wear in the Mountain Province. Definitely not something we'll wear, but it was a very nice token. And they'll be great for decoration and something to remember the Philippines by.

I successfully finished the Conscious Cleanse! :) Sunday was really difficult. Only liquids, and then knowing that I could eat normal food the next day. I definitely went to bed really early and then, in turn, woke up around 5am on Monday. I've been doing an okay job of eating real food the last two days. I've had whole wheat bread (from a bakery, so there are no artificial ingredients) with pb and jam for breakfast, and fruit and Kettle Chips (ingredients are potatoes, oil, salt) for snacks. Lunch and dinner yesterday weren't great... I had school spaghetti for lunch and then I went to Sbarro (my fav) for dinner. Though I was pleasantly surprised how unsatisfying it was. Maybe I won't need to go there as often. Today was better. I had cream cheese on rye crackers for lunch, and then homemade tacos for dinner (see recipe section). I kinda went overboard for dessert though, and now feel way too full...I had instant pudding with strawberries. Delicious, but definitely regretting it now. I think this real food thing is going to be okay. I spent a while Pinning recipes on Pinterest today.
So I'm on day 13 on the conscious cleanse. I'm not going to lie, these last few days have been really tough. Breakfast (green smoothie) and morning snack (nuts), have gone really well. Like I feel full and just fine for the morning. Lunch, I've been having a salad with chicken, which is okay, but gets boring, even though I switch up the dressing. Dinner is what has really gotten to me. We've pretty much been doing a dish that's veggies and either quinoa or brown rice. They're really good, but we are getting really sick of them. This weekend (today and tomorrow), it all liquids. Breakfast was fine. I had a 40oz green smoothie. But then to have another one for lunch, was a little much. I've had 70oz of liquified fruits and veggies today. And that's all. And now it's dinner time. Needless today, I'm quite tired. Definitely going to be early.
So I'm over half-way done! And, overall, I feel pretty good. I've lost about 8lbs without trying. I eat when I'm hungry and I haven't been miserable at all, though I have been craving bread. I think I can make it another 5 whole days! Though I have to make sure that I keep eating plenty, because I don't want to lose any more weight.
Well I've made it this far without eating anything I'm not supposed to. Though I don't feel the best without sugar, I hope that it will get better. Marissa and I have cooked pretty good meals the last four nights. The first two took well over an hour to cook, the last two, only about 45 minutes. I've been really impressed with the meals and I actually like veggies now! I guess I learn to like things when it's all I can have :) If you're curious about the recipes, head on over to the "recipe" section on the website.
This last weekend, Marissa, Laura and I climbed Mount Pulag. It’s the third highest mountain in the Philippines and it’s just north east of Baguio (only about 20 miles, but keep reading and you’ll see it took a lot more than 20 minutes to get there). I will just say this first… It was an incredible hike and so amazing to see, but a lot of the weekend was not fun because of how inefficiently the tour was run. Read on to see what I mean …
