After school today we had a staff cooking competition. And my team got second place! We had two recipes we had to follow (pork dumplings and glutenous rice balls) and then there were s bunch of ingredients and we could make whatever we wanted (we made fried rice and sweet and sour chicken). It was an awesome afternoon and even nicer that we placed :)

We went to Disney tonight just to get out of DB. It was crazy busy. Like a lot more than usual. We did our two usual ride (both roller coasters) and just walked around the park for a while. There was some special parade on, so that was fun to watch. But again, crazy amounts of people. Today I spent the day at Kellett School in Kowloon with 16 of our 7th and 8th graders for a math competition. They didn't win, but it was a fun day! I spent most of the day today doing work, so I treated myself to a massage in the evening. This picture is from the walk to the plaza. It was a bit eerie because there was no one around and it was quite dark. I spent the afternoon wandering around Mong Kok. Crazy busy, but fun just to be in the middle of all of it with nothing specific to do. I did find a yarn store though, so I bought some and hopefully will work on some projects in the new couple months! Tonight Brandon's year group (7th graders) had their social, so we both chaperoned it. Nothing too exciting, but it wasn't too bad for being at school for 3 hours on a Friday night with 12 year olds! Today was a day of just doing work. Some work work as well as work around the house. One thing I made today I was really proud of. An awesome hummus. I never buy tahini for hummus because it's insanely expensive and I would only use it for hummus. So I threw together some other things with chickpeas and I have to say it was awesome! Here's the recipe (quite rough, as anyone who knows me knows that I don't measure anything). * 1 can of chickpeas * 2 tablespoons olive oil * 1 clove garlic * small handful of basil * 1/4 cup Parmesan (fresh, not from a shaker) * salt and pepper (maybe 1/2 tsp each) * a bit of water (maybe a couple tbls... Just to thin it out a bit) Just stick everything into a food processor and then you're done! And it's awesome. I went shopping today and was totally unsuccessful, but I did meet Lis for lunch, so that was fun. We went to a new sushi place in Tung Chung. So here's a picture of that! Brandon's boys had a basketball game after school today and they won! And the best part is, people are actually starting to come to the games. Last year, I was pretty much the only one in the audience. But today there were about 30 students and a few parents. Yay! Tonight, Brandon and I went to "Phantom of the Opera" at Asia World Expo. It was a great show! And it was nice to get out of DB and have a date night :) |
