Today was a pretty great day, despite waking up at 5:15am. Maybe not as over jet lag as we thought. We went to a few breweries and did some beer tasting. Nothing too amazing, but still fun to try new stuff. Next time we come out here, we'll have to spend the time to go out to Sonoma. Then, Brandon and I spent some time on our own because Mark had to work for a few hours. We went to the aquarium and did a bay cruise. Aquarium was underwhelming. Very small. Bay cruise was good, but it was really cold. But it was only an hour, so it was just fine. We went out under the Golden Gate, which was cool. Then we met back up with Mark and Pam for dinner at a Peruvian place. We had ceviche, raw fish, which I had never had before and was pleasantly surprised. It was delicious! We were all pretty tired, so we called it a night after that. Tomorrow we head to Sioux Falls to see Nichols and then Saturday we head to Florida for a cruise. Yay!

Today was an awesome day. Surprisingly, I'm not tired at all. I hope that means that I wasn't jet lagged at all and just completely got over it overnight. We'll see when I see how well I sleep tonight! Anyway, when we got up this morning, we went to the Pride Parade for a bit, which was awesome. So many people were there. That's what the picture today is from. Clearly lots of colors :) Then we went to lunch at an amazing place at Pier 23. Then Brandon and I wandered around a bit and walked through Chinatown. Even though we've been there before, we thought it's be interesting after living in HK. It's so similar to HK. Tons of cheap souvenirs and food. And lots of people. It was way busier than the rest of SF (except for the parade area). Is it weird that I felt way more comfortable there than the rest of SF? Then we went to the musical 'Once' which was so good. All of the cast sang and played an instrument, which was very unique. They were all so talented. Then we went to an awesome Mexican restaurant for dinner. Then a dessert place, which was okay. I definitely was underwhelmed at that. Mark and Pam have done it again, an amazing day in SF! Excited for another one tomorrow :) This has been such a long day. It started when I woke up in Hong Kong at 6am to finish packing so we could leave for the airport by 8am for our 10am flight. Everything went very smoothly. I tried to sleep on the flight, but was unsuccessful. So I have now been up for about 32 hours. We arrived in San Francisco around 1pm and took a taxi to Mark and Pam's place. (The view is from their rooftop, overlooking the bay bridge.) after changing, we went to Mill Valley to visit my aunt Mary and her boyfriend, Mark, and cousin Anika. We had an awesome dinner with them and just hung out and chatted for a while. It was a really great time with them. Brandon and I were doing surprisingly well for hardly any sleep and managed to stay there until about 9pm. We're now back in SF and ready for bed because we have an awesome day of sight-seeing tomorrow! :) Today was the last day of school! It was a half day, so I spent the rest of the day packing because we leave for the states tomorrow morning! :) We had an assembly to end the school year and I'll let you see what happened at the end of it.... http://vimeo.com/m/99305187 Wow, I've been awful about posting. Tomorrow's the last day of school!! Yay! Today was my last day with my 11th graders and since there are only nine of them, we played Cranium. So much fun! Yesterday night we went out to eat in Central with a couple of our friends that are leaving next year. Completely forgot to take a picture. Whoops. We leave for the states in Saturday! So excited! But so much to do in the next 48 hours. At least tomorrow's a half day, so I'll have the whole afternoon and evening to pack and get stuff done. So excited for summer! :) It was a crazy busy week. We didn't really do anything during the week because our grades were due on Thursday night. But then Friday night was the staff party! The school rented out a restaurant in Wan Chai. After that finished, a bunch of us went to go watch another teacher and his band play. So that's what the picture is today :) We didn't stay too long because it was so crowded and hot. But it was just fun to be out with lots of people from school. One week from today we're done! We spent the morning at Universal again. Went on lots of rides again. Awesome morning. We decided to go to the airport a bit early just because. And I'm so happy we did. I remembered that one of the benefits to one of our credit cards was lounge access at lots of airports. So we checked it out in Singapore. After about 30 min of looking for it in all three terminals, we found it. And not only did we get free access to awesome chairs and internet, we each got a free 15 min massage! So cool. So now we're just hanging out and waiting for our flight back. We should get in around 10pm, so with any luck we'll be home by 11 and can get a decent night sleep. I love living in HK! :) Today was an awesome day! We left our hotel pretty early so that we could maximize our day at Universal Studios. We got express passes so that we didn't have to wait in lines. It was so worth it! Some of the rides had 40+ minute waits and we didn't even have to wait five. There aren't as many cool rides as the one in Florida, but there are still some pretty great ones. The best rides got closed down this year (Battlestar Galactica roller coasters) because they apparently weren't super safe. So that sucks, because they were awesome. But they still had the Mummy coaster and the Transformers 4-D ride. We went on them a ton. There was a restaurant on the "main street" in Universal that had happy hour while we watched the par
Brandon was jealous that I got to go to Phuket last weekend, so on Tuesday of this week, we booked a trip to Singapore for this weekend! It's so nice to live so close to so many cool places and so close to the airport that it's worth it to go somewhere for the weekend. This is a picture of us on the plane :) I was marking some year 8 assessments today and came across this gem of a comment. I accidentally put 'do' instead of 'to' and a student was kinda enough to point it out. Note the 'dude.' These kids are very entertaining to say the least :) |
