Today we drove to Philip Island to see the penguin parade. So cool! Unfortunately no pictures allowed, so this is just when we were waiting for the penguins. We arrived early so we had a front row seat. Penguins came within inches of us. Amazing! On another not so good note, our camper broke down tonight :( We had to call to get a mechanic out and now we need a new camper because it will take too long to fix.

Two pictures today.... We went to Raymond Island today and saw koalas! There are apparently about 600 living on the island, but we only saw about five. I thought it would be a nature reserve, but it was very residential. Like koalas in people's front yard. Very interesting. Tonight we're camping at an awesome site on the beach! Probably my favorite campsite so far. Today we took a boat along one of the lakes up to a winery for lunch and wine tasting. The wine wasn't the best, but the food was awesome. A really nice and relaxing day :) Since it's Easter weekend, we decided to spend two nights in one place because the campsite actually had availability and we were nervous that we wouldn't have been able to find another (Easter is a super popular time to travel in Oz). We stayed in a town called Lakes Entrance. It's right on the ocean and then there are a lot of lakes. Today we drove from Bateman's bay to Meribula. Not a lot here, just lots of shops and restaurants. Along the way, we stopped for lunch at a really cute place along a pier. Today was my favorite day so far. In the morning, we went on a eco tour of Jervis Bay. We saw lots of dolphins and just had a really nice day on the water. Tonight, we're at a campsite near Murramarang NP and there are tons of kangaroos! They literally came right up to us! We accidentally took some chips with us down to the beach, and then they came hopping right up to us. We did not feed them, but they wouldn't leave. They were like 2 feet in front of us. We then moved our chairs back a bit because they were starting to scare us. A bit too close for comfort. |
